Strategic Planning

Strategic planning, if it is presented and facilitated well can be a very uplifting day that brings people together and that the outcome is that they will appreciate the assets of the organization and come together to constructively look to mitigate/ minimize liabilities.

Just as a “sketch” of what you can expect and more detailed information is available typically, and depending on the size of the group, we usually need a full day for strategic planning- as an example something in the nature of 9 am to 3 pm.

We utilize the standard S.W.O.T. formula…

Strengths - an examination of your organization’s strengths, (past, present, and future).

Weaknesses - an honest look at organizational weaknesses and areas in which improvement is needed and essential.

Opportunities - discussing and discovering organizational opportunities.

Threats - a hard but important look at what we all perceive are your current and potential threats.

Then we take time examine and review your organization’s core values. It’s a changing world and they’ve likely changed and evolved OR need to change and evolve.

We look at the Board values, what are the expectations of behaviours and values expected for leadership that reflects the organization.

We will review/update your organization’s vision and mission statement to make sure they align with where you are and where you are going.

Optionally, we can look at how your organization is planning for future growth.

And sometimes, we might look at Board member practices such as Board terms and future leadership/ succession planning.

In other words, a day of strategic planning can be tailored to whatever you want to focus on and prioritize.

OUR ROLE AS FACILTATOR…

Our role as a facilitator is to keep the day positive, focused, productive, and on schedule.

As an outside facilitator, I have the virtue of being objective, unbiased, and seeing your organization through fresh eyes.

Although, I do feel strongly that strategic planning is an important step forward to aid in forming a clear vision for continued prosperity.
